Liverpool’s next transfer swoop “80 per cent” complete

siqueiraHere in the Football Transfer Tavern we are eagerly awaiting the next summer movement at Liverpool after seeing Stewart Downing join West Ham on Wednesday and Liverpool fans have been left excited by reports from Mirror Football

The paper suggests that Liverpool close to completing the £5.5 million capture of Granada left back Guilherme Siqueira, with a deal for the Brazilian defender understood  to be “80 per cent done”.

This would be something of a victory over Merseyside rivals Everton who have also been chasing the Brazilian defender this summer.

The Reds have been chasing a new left back all summer as manager Brendan Rodgers wants to add further competition to current left back Jose Enrique at Anfield and having offloaded Stewart Downing to West Ham United for £6 million, he is now ready to use those funds to sign Siqueira.

The versatile full back, who can also play on the left wing, has been with the La Liga club since 2010 when he joined from Udinese and he impressed in Spain, playing over 70 times with 17 goals as a defender.

Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre is reportedly in Spain to try and persuade the Spanish side to sell the 27-year-old to Anfield despite his contract running until June 2017.

Rodgers now hopes that Siqueira will be available for selection for their opening match of the season against Stoke City on Saturday as the Premier League finally kicks off.

Will Liverpool now land the attacking full back? Let us know your thoughts below.
