Liverpool fans enter the Football Transfer Tavern to the news from The Express which explains that Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert could return to Southampton on loan despite Brendan Rodgers relying on him to solve his goalscoring headache.
Punters are amazed to hear that the big forward could be forced out of Liverpool after his £4 million move to his boyhood club last summer.
The rumours have emerged, as the 32-year-old is not only seeking more frequent first team football to keep his international hopes alive, but also he fears that if Liverpool move for another striker in January, he will have to make way.
The Reds have been recently linked with Saido Berahino and Jackson Martinez and it was revealed in the Tavern recently that it is unlikely they will recall Divock Origi from his season long loan with Lille, making a transfer in January more likely.
So if Lambert is used to pave the way for a new arrival, he would be in line to return to his former club, after the highflying Saints are searching for a striker to compete and provide cover for the in-form Graziano Pelle.
