Xhedran Shaqiri joined Liverpool in the summer transfer window from Stoke City and has looked impressive for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Despite having some rather limited opportunities at Anfield, the Switzerland international has managed to find the back of the net six times in his 25 appearances across all competitions.
Still only 27-years-old, the winger still has plenty of playing time left in his career as a footballer, however, questions have already been asked about how he sees his future.
And, speaking in an interview with German media outlet Sport1, Shaqiri has revealed that he will leave it completely open and has refused to rule out America and China as possible destinations.
“I’m leaving that completely open at the moment,” he said.
“But sure, it would be nice to return home to FC Basel. That would be a special matter for me. But I do not rule out going to America or China again. I love getting to new countries and cultures. But it is definitely a dream to return to Basel again.”
As mentioned, Shaqiri is still only 27-years-old and is likely to have plenty of years of playing at the ‘top-level’.
Liverpool will want to see the £22.5million-rated ace, as per Transfermarkt, remain at Anfield for some years to come, especially if he continues to make the kind of impact many know he is capable of producing.
However, a move to either of those countries could happen at any time, with both destinations becoming ever popular as the years go by.
