There are some choice opinions flying around the bar and there is no doubt that many of them would cash in given half the chance.
The latest player who appears to be doing that is former Arsenal and Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka who, according to Sky Sports, has become the latest player to join the Indian Premier League.
The journeyman striker has joined Freddie Ljungberg and signed for Mumbai City FC but the Frenchman’s agent has denied that his client also turned down an offer from Serie A outfit Fiorentina.
His agent said: “Fiorentina never made contact with Anelka.
“Anelka signed a deal with Mumbai FC and so there is no chance of a U-turn.
“The contract will expire on December 25th, I have it, so there are no problems. We have never had contacts with Viola, so the news that said this is false.
“Anelka asked for 1.5 million euros each season – a salary that is out of reach in Italy. We had contacts with Palermo, but we didn’t go forward for this.”
