There is a Christmassy feel in the Football Transfer Tavern today and as punters enjoy their mulled wine and mince pies, they are interrupted by a correspondent from talkSPORT who rushes into the bar with news that Premier League target Fernando Llorente is set to sign for Juvenuts in January.
The 27-year-old has been a long-term target for both Liverpool and Arsenal but the journalist reports that the Spainard is ready to meet with Juventus official on Monday in an attempt to agree a deal taking the striker to Turin.
The news has left fans of the two Premier League rivals discussing his potential and after taking Athletic Bilbao to the Europa League final last season it is clear that he would be an excellent signing for either club.
However it is thought that Juventus may baulk at the £3.3 million asking price with the Spanish international not willing to sign a new contract at San Mames, meaning he will be available for free in the summer. If either of the English clubs want to meet his valuation, they may have first refusal on the talented frontman.
