Tottenham Hotspur fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are looking slightly happier today after the latest claim from Metro, who yesterday caused an uproar by claiming that Hugo Lloris had his eyes on playing for Arsenal.
Of course, our punters were not too pleased with this, and despite the Arsenal fans finding it hilarious, we all thought it was rather cheeky of the goalkeeper, at the very least.
Now it seems that the Frenchman has come out and denied the claims, which were of course made by Olivier Giroud, and he has made it abundantly clear that is not the case.
Lloris spoke to the Tottenham Hotspur website, and claimed: ‘Yes I heard about that,
‘I think maybe some words were twisted, but it is embarrassing. I don’t think that. I’m very focused on Spurs’ ambition and I am very pleased to play for Spurs.’
This has of course mollified the majority of fans here in the tavern, and has us lamenting the fact that so many rumours these days are twisted and ‘paper talk’ just to fill those column inches.
Arsenal of course face a huge game against Manchester United, and should they ship five goals again, they could well be putting in a call to Lloris!
Is Lloris just doing damage control? Let us know your thoughts below.
