The news is somewhat of a surprise given that the player only has a year left on his contract, meaning a permanent move would have been more feasible. Though it’s probably a ploy from Liverpool to remove the Argentinian from the wage bill.
The 21-year-old had been poised with a move to Fiorentina, with a transfer fee already agreed between the clubs earlier in the summer. The transfer eventually fell through with the left back staying on the Mersey.
Skysports.com claims that the player is in Istanbul completing his medical. Replacement will arrive at Anfield in the form of 29-year-old Paul Konchesky from Fulham. The left back blossomed under manager Roy Hodgson’s tenure with the Cottagers and is expected to complete his £3million move today.
Liverpool also still have Fabio Aurelio in the squad. The left back signed a new two year deal following Hodgson’s appointment as manager.
