The Mirror has reported that Manchester United’s Fabio de Silva might leave the club on a loan move to Benfica with the aim of securing first team football.
The defender has struggled to get into the Manchester United team this season and in the Premier League he has only played the whole game once.
The newspaper reported that Sir Alex Ferguson will make a decision on the loan move in the “next two or three weeks”. The Manchester manager is very fond of the 21 year old Brazilian and has called him an “excellent footballer” and therefore wants Fabio to enhance his experience before he makes a return to Old Trafford.
The deal with Benfica will see Fabio play for the Portuguese side for the duration of next season. At the moment Benfica are currently second in the Portuguese Primeria Liga and are 4 points behind the leaders, FC Porto, with 4 games left to play.
This loan deal will be a prime opportunity for Fabio to get first team football for a Champions League club if the deal does go ahead.
