It’s all getting a bit heated in the Football Transfer Tavern, after sources at talkSPORT revealed north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham are battling it out for the signature of Loic Remy – and a decision is expected shortly.
The Gunners have been linked with the France international for a long time, after watching him fire 14 Premier League goals whilst on loan at Newcastle United last season.
But with Arsene Wenger having already completed the signing Alexis Sanchez, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is hopeful of luring the Frenchman to White Hart Lane with the promise of more regular first team action.
Newcastle also consider themselves to be in the hunt for the 27-year-old’s signature, but Arsenal and Tottenham are the clear frontrunners.
Remy is holding talks with both clubs, and is expected to make a decision on an £8million switch from Queens Park Rangers next week.
Were he to join Arsenal, he would become Arsene Wenger’s third signing in quick succession, having completed deals for Sanchez and Newcastle full back Mathieu Debuchy last week.
