There is only one story that is dominating the Football Transfer Tavern landscape today and that is the departure of David Moyes from Manchester United.
The club’s owners have now given up with the former Everton manager and he has lost his job after steering them to seventh place and missing out on qualifying for the Champions League.
There are not many in the tavern that disagree with the decision but some United fans believe he should have been given more time.
In the context of transfers, the Red Devils have a reported budget worth £150 million to spend this summer and the club have decided that Moyes is not the man to have this responsibility.
One of the players that has been heavily linked with Old Trafford in the past in Benfica defender Ezequiel Garay.
After helping securing his side the Portuguese league title, the talented defender has admitted that he didn’t know where future lies although he is ‘very happy’ at the Primeira Liga champions, according to Sky Sports.
Sir Alex Ferguson was a known admirer of the 27-year-old Argentine international and the departure of Moyes could see the interest revived as United search for a top class centre back replacement as Nemanja Vidic leaves for Inter Milan.
Do you think that Garay would be a good addition to the United squad? Let us know your thoughts below.
