There are some interesting reports coming from Metro today as the paper reports that Jackson Martinez has admitted he could leave Porto in the summer with interest gathering from Chelsea.
Blues boss Jose Mourinho is understood to be keen admirer of the 27-year-old and was chasing after his services last summer, before landing veteran forward Samuel Eto’o on a one-year deal.
The Cameroonian striker is regarded as a short-term fix at Stamford Bridge and that could see the Blues moving for the Colombian international again next summer as they look for more firepower.
His latest comments are likely to attract Mourinho’s attention, which some suggest could act as ‘come and get me plea’ to Chelsea while other other interested parties includes Borussia Dortmund, Monaco and Napoli.
“The years are passing and one day I hope to make a good transfer,” Martinez said.
“It clearly depends on Porto, a club that sells its players so well. Leaving or staying depends on Porto but I will only go if there is something concrete.”
One Chelsea supporter who is sat at the bar tell us that he remembers hearing about this same speculation in recent times but that believes the reported £35 million price tag will put off Mourinho despite the striker being a long-term target.
We also mention that the report seems to have forgotten about Romelu Lukaku, who is currently starring for Everton on loan for the season.
