‘Look after him for us’, ‘Enjoy him while you can’ – Liverpool fans have the last laugh despite recent Twitter post

Liverpool supporters have been more upbeat in the Transfer Tavern in the last few days after seeing their side get back to winning ways with a comfortable 3-0 success over Huddersfield Town in the Premier League on Tuesday night.

Jurgen Klopp’s men went into their clash with the Terriers off the back of successive defeats at the hands of Swansea City and West Brom, the latter knocking them out of the FA Cup at the fourth round stage for the third consecutive season. Yet a Reds victory was never really in doubt at the John Smith’s Stadium on Tuesday night, with goals from Emre Can, Roberto Firmino, and Mohamed Salah sealing a routine success for the Merseyside giants, a result which actually moved them ahead of Chelsea on goal difference following their 3-0 defeat at home to Bournemouth on Wednesday.

Thus, there have been many happy Liverpudlians in the Tavern in recent times, several of whom have used the last few hours to discuss their team’s efforts in the January transfer window.

The Reds brought in Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in a mega money deal but also saw Philippe Coutinho leave for £142 million, which reportedly stimulated the club’s desire to bring Naby Keita to Anfield earlier than his proposed summer move.

However, the Merseyside giants were unable to do so, and Keita’s employers RB Leipzig took to Twitter in the aftermath of the window to seemingly mock the Reds for failing to secure an early deal for the midfielder.

Unsurprisingly, this provoked quite a reaction from Liverpool supporters on the social media platform, many of whom pointing out that it will them who have the last laugh when Keita moves to Anfield in the summer…
