Roberto Mancini has not exactly been shy when it comes to making signings during his time in Manchester, particularly in the striking department. Despite the vast amounts of Arab wealth invested in some of Europe’s premier striking talent nobody has yet managed to nail down the role of being City’s number 9.
The Metro is reporting that Manchester City are ready to give yet another front man the chance to prove himself worthy of the role. Atletico Madrid’s Radamel Falcao is the latest to be linked with a move to the blue side of Manchester.
A vacancy in Mancini’s forward line is looking increasingly possible as the Italian appears to have lost patience with the inconsistency of Edin Dzeko.
Falcao could well prove a more than adequate replacement should Dzeko move on, as the Colombian has managed an impressive 25 goals in 36 games this campaign. Falcao only move to Spain last year but the move was met with a less than positive reaction in his homeland leading The Metro to suggest the player may be looking for a move in order to further his international ambitions.
Although money is rarely an issue for the residents of Eastlands Falcao would certainly not come cheap. The former Porto man joined Atletico Madrid for around £28 million and the Spanish side would surely be looking to make a profit on a player who has only enhanced his reputation since his move. One thing is for sure though, if City really want their man they’ll find the cash.
