There is no denying that Liverpool have managed to put themselves in a great position as the football calendar heads into the international break. Jurgen Klopp’s side managed to continue to put pressure on Manchester City at the top of the Premier League with their win against Fulham as they look to finally win England’s top domestic trophy.
However, just because things are going well for the club does not necessarily mean things are going well for one of their players, with one individual having a really hard 12 months.
What’s the News?
According to a report by Turkiye Gazetesi, Loris Karius has told the Premier League outfit that he wants his contract at Besiktas to be terminated and that he wants to make a return to Anfield.
The German goalkeeper has come in for plenty of criticism at the Istanbul outfit and does not feel comfortable with the situation he currently finds himself in at the club.
It is also claimed that Karius would be open to heading back to his homeland to resurrect his career, with Eintracht Frankfurt and Fortuna Dusseldorf both alleged to be potential options for him.
What a 12 months Karius has had! And they have not exactly been enviable to say the least.
Following his horror show in the Champions League final last season, the 25-year-old would have been hoping to have had a fresh start in Istanbul with Besiktas, however, it would seem his poor performances have followed him there and have continued to make life hard for him.
Whether he will be allowed to return to Liverpool early and if the Premier League outfit look to terminate the loan agreement remains to be seen, however, things would be incredibly unlikely to change for Karius.
He would be unable to play for Klopp’s side, regardless of how well Alisson is currently playing for the Reds, whilst another move would not be able to happen until the summer at the earliest.
However, a move back to Germany could be the best thing for him and Liverpool as the ‘keeper may have the best chance their to finally move on and get his footballing career back on track.
