Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern may be welcoming a new defender to Anfield this week but they could also be set to lose one.
That’s because the Daily Star claim that Daniel Agger is considering his Liverpool future after Brendan Rodgers decided to bring Southampton’s Dejan Lovren into the club.
Rodgers recently confirmed that there was a place for Agger in his squad but the Danish defender has hinted that his days on Merseyside could be numbered.
“It is no secret that I had problems last season and I am considering things,” the Denmark international told BT.
“How things turned out last season is not acceptable for me.
“I am here now and it is up to me to show the coach that I should play.”
Agger has previously attracted interest from Barcelona but it is unknown where Agger may go having made it quite clear to Rodgers that he is unwilling to play second fiddle at the club.
The 29-year old signed from Brondby in 2006 for £6 million and a return to the Danish club has previously been mooted.
Liverpool fans. Is now the right time to let Daniel Agger leave the club? Let us know your thoughts below.
