Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern will be looking ahead to the Champions League final with Real Madrid and will be hoping they can be triumphant in Kiev.
One man that would like to make a difference and be a part of the squad is Adam Lallana, who was left out of the England World Cup team this summer with concerns over his fitness. The 30-year-old would have been a certainty to be heading to Russia if there were no doubts about how he could remain fit, however, it is believed that he took the news well and remains on standby should there be any issues.
The Daily Mirror are claiming that the midfielder took the disappointment well and understands Southgate’s reasoning and is more determined than ever to do what he can to get into the Three Lions side.
The Liverpool fans in the Tavern will be devastated for Lallana after hearing the news he did not quite make the 23-man squad for the tournament in Russia. The former Southampton star had been working hard to recover from his latest setback in order to be available, however, a season that has been riddled with injuries and allowed him just three starts has forced the England boss to look elsewhere.
The 30-year-old will now look towards the Champions League final as an opportunity to get his fitness levels up, whilst he still has a slim chance of being called into the Three Lions squad before they jet off.
