Major Chelsea summer transfer swoop to be put on hold?

Diego CostaThere’s huge disappointment in the Football Transfer Tavern with the news that Chelsea may have to wait another season to secure long-term target Diego Costa.

According to The Mirror, Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has pleaded with the club to keep his star man at the Vicente Calderon for another season as they prepare for Champions League football once more.

It was believed that the West Londoners were poised to secure the Spanish international’s signature in a £50 million deal worth £185,000-a-week in wages.

But now it seems that Simeone has met with club officials to beg them to keep Costa for one more season so that the Argentine gaffer can build a squad capable of challenging in both La Liga and the Champions League next season.
