The Newcastle United fans who are gathered around the jukebox in The Transfer Tavern this evening discussing comments that one of their stars could stay at the club next season.

According to the Chronicle Live, Andros Townsend could STAY at the club next season despite the club being relegated to the Championship.

The wingers performances since moving to the club from Tottenham have been exceptional and those performances have earned him a place in Roy Hodgson’s provisional squad for EURO 2016 which begins next month.

The fans during the club’s final day demolition of Tottenham gave Townsend a standing ovation when he was mistakenly substituted only to return to the field of play.

West Ham and Southampton have both been linked with the wide man, who is believed to an £8m release clause in his deal on Tyneside.

However, according to Townsend’s father, Troy, who was being interviewed about his son remaining in the North East, the 24-year old is looking forward to the future.

‘Newcastle could rise quickly and Andros looks forward to many more seasons with them’, he revealed.

The Newcastle fans in The Tavern are delighted by the comments made by Townsend’s father and hope to see him plying his trade for the club next season.

Do Newcastle really have any hope at all of keeping Townsend next season?
