The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for David De Gea to stay at the club this summer, but it would appear as though those hopes may have suffered somewhat of a blow…
According to the Daily Record, De Gea has reportedly revealed to Jose Mourinho that he would like to play for Real Madrid at some point his career, though it is noted that he will not force through a move this summer. Perhaps more concerning for fans is the report that Man Utd would be willing to sell him for a record fee, and they have apparently identified Joe Hart as a potential successor for the Spaniard.
The fact that a successor has already been identified is certainly concerning for Man Utd, as whilst they might be hoping that De Gea stays, there appears to be genuine concern that he might leave the club this summer.
The idea of Hart moving across Manchester is certainly a concerning prospect for the Man Utd fans in the pub, and that cautiousness does not stem purely from his relationship with their city rivals. Indeed, many think that Hart is simply no longer good enough – as proven by his recent loan away from the Citizens.
