Malcom would give Emery’s Arsenal the exciting attacking edge it needs

Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern can’t wait for the season to start so they can watch all their new stars in action.

Unai Emery has wasted no time in revamping his squad after taking the reins from Arsene Wenger. The Spaniard completed deals for Stephan Lichtsteiner, Sokratis and Bernd Leno and is expected to sign Sampdoria midfielder, Lucas Torreira, in the coming days. Our punters can’t wait to see their new signings in a red shirt!

If Arsenal are to compete for the title next season, they need to bolster their attack. Henrikh Mkhitaryan is the only recognised winger in the squad, and another wide player should be signed. Adding a quality player on the flanks would no doubt improve the performances of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

Therefore, the ideal signing could be Bordeaux sensation – Malcom. Valued at £40.5m by Transfermarkt, the Brazilian has enjoyed a magnificent season in Ligue 1. He scored 12 goals and notched seven assists in 35 appearances for his side, attracting interest from all over Europe.

The 20-year-old is comfortable on either wing as well as through the middle making him a great weapon for Emery to have at his disposal. Malcom favours cutting in from the right on to his favoured left foot before picking a pass or shooting at goal. The youngster would add some much-needed creativity into the Arsenal attack, averaging 2.5 key passes per game last season (WhoScored); only Mesut Ozil averaged more in the Arsenal squad.

He was fouled more on average than any other Arsenal player last season, highlighting the trouble he causes defenders. He is ready-made for life in England and could grow to be one of the best wingers in the world.
