The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to the next few months of action. It’s looking set to be a busy end to the season for the Citizens, with fixture congestion and fixture importance quickly increasing.
Indeed, the next few months or so, in particular, are going to be very important. The return of the Champions League is on the horizon, as is the Carabao Cup final, whilst the Premier League alongside all of that.
Fortunately, ahead of those games, defender Vincent Kompany has provided an encouraging update on his fitness status. The Belgian has played a couple of times over the last week or so, but he had previously been unavailable for an extended period of time.
According to fitness expert Ben Dinnery on Twitter, Kompany said: “Now I’m in a good place. I feel good whenever I play. It’s just a case of getting the lungs back as quick as you can, but that happens with time”.

This is encouraging for the Citizens, given just how important Vincent Kompany is for Man City. Sure, he’s not quite as dominant at the back as he has been in the past, but his leadership and charisma on the field cannot be understated.
He’s one of the few players within the Man City squad that has won it all and been at the club for an extended period of time. He, in many ways, is the glue that holds the team together, and so his fitness is crucial.
Not to mention, he’s still a solid option at the back – providing fantastic composure and class amongst a group of relatively inexperienced defenders.
Kompany’s career has really been halted by injury in recent years, but he does look to finally be getting past the worst of it.
Despite his age, his involvement is still crucial, and Pep Guardiola will be desperate to be able to call on him as they enter the most important period of the season.
Certainly, at the moment, it’s looking like he will have that opportunity.
