This concerns the Manchester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern…
Yaya Toure was, for years, a cult hero amongst the Man City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern.
The Ivorian’s domineering style of play, complete with goals, assists and forward drives was an earmark of the early-Sheikh Mansour days at Manchester City.
He has played a key part in the rise of the Manchester-based side, and will go down in the history books as one of the greatest to wear the famous Sky Blue.
However, the Ivorian now looks set for the exit door after a widely-publicized fall out with manager Pep Guardiola.
Toure’s agent has been highly critical of the Spaniard over the last few weeks, stemming from Toure’s exclusion from City’s Champions League squad – and his time in Manchester looked set to be up…
…At least – we thought it was.
According to the Sun, Toure is set on a Premier League stay should a Manchester City departure come – because he does not want to force his family out of his Cheshire home.
They add that Toure has rejected several big money moves abroad in order to remain in the country.
Interestingly, the Sun are also reporting that Manchester City are happy for him to remain in the country and perhaps even join a Premier League rival – because they want his wages off the City books.
Whilst the bar staff in the Football Transfer Tavern can understand why City want Toure out of the club – they think that allowing him to join a Premier League rival would be a crazy idea.
Whilst Toure is not a favourite of Guardiola, the Ivorian can still go with the best of them – and he could become a pivotal part of another Premier League club’s title charge this season.
Even more so, our landlord thinks that the Ivorian could prove to be the difference maker in the Premier League this season, as the title race hots up.
It will no doubt be a very tough decision for City – and it could backfire on them.
