Chelsea and Manchester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are overwhelmed after the Sunday Mirror revealed they would have to break the British transfer record to secure Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.
The pressure has mounted on the English clubs after Paris Saint-Germain offered £60m for the French international.
But the Ligue 1 champions are still yet to agree personal terms but it is believed that Pogba’s representatives are demanding a five-year deal worth around £320,000.
The current British transfer record is £59.7m which is what Manchester United forked out to sign Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid last summer.
So either the Blues or the Citizens will have to exceed this astronomical fee, which is painful to think, considering Juve snapped him up for nothing from United as a youngster.
But now he has turned into one of the most wanted youngsters in world football and has the world at his feet, with numerous European clubs wanting his signature.
