Manchester City have already splashed the cash this summer as they secured the services of Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City, but it doesn’t look as if they’re done yet.
The Citizens were dominant last season as they secured the Premier League title with ease and didn’t look like taking their foot off the gas. And, it seems as if they’re looking to ensure future success, as according to The Mirror, Manchester City and Manchester United are battling it out for Middlesbrough’s Nathan Wood.
Champions Manchester City and bitter rivals Manchester United are going head-to-head over hot prospect Nathan Wood of Middlesbrough.
Interestingly, the 16-year-old has been a part of Tony Pulis’ plans so far during pre-season as he continues to come on leaps and bounds.
A number of clubs are already aware of the progress of the England youth international, with City and United particularly keen, but Wood appears more than happy to continue with his hometown side.
So, Manchester City appear to be eyeing a move for the young defensive star that has already shown that he can handle first-team football over the course of the summer. But, with bitter rivals Manchester United also in the race for the teen, and with the defender happy at the Riverside, it remains to be seen as to whether the Citizens will be able to secure his services this summer.
