Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern have started to dislike the transfer windows, as it usually sees a host of their stars being linked with a move elsewhere.
The situation has not changed for the current month and the latest reports suggest two Premier League rivals are eyeing a move for a pair of defenders from White Hart Lane.
The Sun states Manchester United and Manchester City are both keen on Spurs’ full-back duo Kyle Walker and Harry Kane, with both of the Manchester sides looking to strengthen a defensive line that has looked suspect at times this season.
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City currently have a crop of ageing full-backs at their disposal, including Bacary Sagna and Gael Clichy, whilst United’s options on the flanks are limited, excluding Luke Shaw on the left.
Jose Mourinho’s interest in the pair raises question marks over his views of Shaw, whilst interest from the opposite half of Manchester is understandable as the full-back areas are currently the weakest in Guardiola’s squad.
However, our landlord has pointed out that both 26-year-old defenders have only recently signed new deals in North London so it would take an astronomical fee to secure either of their signatures.
