The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been very impressed with Yaya Toure this season…
Though the Ivorian had a slow start to the campaign, Guardiola slowly turned around to the idea of utilising him, and he duly repaid the faith.
He really pleased fans in the pub with his fine performances during the second-half of the campaign, and though it is clear that he is not a Guardiola-style player, he has still impressed when given an opportunity.
Somewhat surprisingly, it appears as though Guardiola was impressed with what he has seen too, with Sky Sports correspondent Kaveh Solhekol reporting that the Citizens have opened talks with Toure over a new deal. Talks, it is said, are going well – and the club and player are reportedly hoping to tie up a deal quickly.

Our landlord is surprised that Man City are looking to hold on to Toure, given his age and playing style, but it certainly makes sense. Toure is an experienced hand in an otherwise inexperienced Man City first team, and with Kompany often injured and Joe Hart unlikely to feature for the club again, that is absolutely invaluable.
That is not to say he won’t do a job for the club next season, either, with the Ivorian showing no sign of slowing down yet.
