Our punters are not surprised that Manchester City and Arsenal, the current top-two in the Premier League, are dominating the passing statistics that were revealed today.
EA Sport’s Player Performance Index included seven players from the Citizens and Arsenal amongst their top ten, which also included two big-names from underperforming Chelsea- which did shock some of our regulars.
The final spot was taken by Bournemouth’s Andrew Surman, the only Englishman to feature in the rankings.
The data reveals that Arsenal’s Santi Cazorla has made the most passes in the opposition half this season and completed the most passes overall, whilst his success rate is second only to City’s Fernandinho.
Spain, heralded for their international style of play, are the nation that dominate the standings with the top-two both starring for Las Rojas, whilst David Silva completes a midfield trio for the back-to-back European Championship winners.
Interestingly the statistics show Chelsea are quite capable in the final third, which appears to point at the finishing being their underlying issue in the Premier League so far this season.
