Man City could have a problem in January as club look to land key Guardiola target

The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting their side to comfortably win the Premier League title this season. They’ve made a fantastic start to the campaign, with Pep Guardiola’s summer signings really doing the trick for the Citizens. Currently leading the way in the English top flight, it doesn’t look like anyone can catch them at the moment, but that hasn’t put Pep Guardiola off in his quest to land one more big signing this season.

According to the Sun, Pep Guardiola remains very keen on Alexis Sanchez, with the Spaniard viewing him as the final jewel in his Premier League crown. However, the club could have a problem as they look to land the attacker, with Arsenal reportedly hesitant to let him leave for anything less than £30 million in January.

His contract, of course, expires next summer, and so financially, it makes little sense to spend that much on him. Man City clearly agree, with a source revealing to the Sun that the Citizens are only willing to pay up to £20 million.

That leaves Man City and, indeed, Pep Guardiola, in a very tough spot.

Landlord’s Verdict

Money isn’t really a problem at Man City, but at the same time, they aren’t in the business of spending it just for the sake of it. If Arsenal don’t change their minds then a deal may truly be hard to come by, with £10 million the difference between the two clubs at present.

Man City aren’t exactly desperate for another attacking midfielder, but you can’t say no to a player of Sanchez’s quality.

A move is likely to happen, but it just depends on when it happens at the moment.
