Man City deals not likely to stop at De Bruyne as Guardiola revolution takes hold – report

The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are delighted at reports suggesting that Kevin De Bruyne could be in line for a new deal at the Etihad. According to the Times, the Citizens are looking to tie up fresh terms with the Belgian as soon as possible, which is just what he deserves after such a stellar start to the campaign.

However, that’s not the only good news for the club, with the Times also providing some further insight on the plans of the Man City brass. According to the Times, the club are said to be planning to secure new deals for a plethora of first-team talent, with Fernandinho, Raheem Sterling, Ederson, Leroy Sane and Gabriel Jesus all reportedly in line.

Every single one of Man City’s first team players have impressed this term, and so it’s no real surprise that they are on course to be rewarded, but this report also seems to suggest something more. Many of these players are young and still developing, and so it seems likely that this is a tactic from the club to ensure that the long-term future of the first team is assured.

Pep Guardiola’s men have been in stunning form this season, and at present, they look on course to walk to the Premier League title. As such, it makes sense to keep as many of the key players together, and so this is an exciting time to be a Citizen.

Fernandinho’s contract is a particular priority, given that it expires next summer, and so it seems likely that the Man City brass will look to tie him down first. Thereafter, it looks set to be a few months of continued negotiations and confirmations from the club.

Landlord’s Verdict

A deal for De Bruyne will undoubtedly be one of the signings of the season for Man City, though the significance rest of these contracts cannot be understated.

With so much quality in the team, keeping the squad together is more important than signing fresh talent.
