For the Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern, additional offensive depth is absolutely essential…
It has been a problem at the Etihad for years. Sergio Aguero is, undoubtedly, one of Europe’s best strikers – but beyond him, the Sky Blues have often struggled for quality offensive depth.
The likes of Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli have come to the Etihad in recent years in order to provide additional depth, but a long-term solution has yet to be found – and that is seemingly something that Man City Director of Football Txiki Begiristain wants to change.
According to the Sun, Txiki Begiristain is personally tracking Bundesliga forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – who both he and the Man City brass feel is the perfect replacement for Argentine forward Sergio Aguero.
Any deal to sign the Bundesliga hitman will be a tough one, though, with Real Madrid reportedly also chasing him.
Aubameyang has been touted by many in the Transfer Tavern as the dream forward, with the Gabon striker in prolific form for Borussia Dortmund. This season he has been as impressive as ever, having scored 15 goals in just 13 Bundesliga games.
This follows his breakout 2015/16 campaign, in which his 25 goals led Dortmund to an impressive 2nd place finish.
Man City fans – would you like to see him at the Etihad?
