The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern aren’t so sure about this…
Man City have had a mixed 2016/17 season so far, with an impressive start to the campaign contrasted with a poor run of results over the last few weeks.
Their mixed form has displayed several pretty significant holes in the Citizens first team – holes that the Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern expected Guardiola to plug in January, but that does not appear to be the case.
Man City director Txiki Begiristain, who is in charge of transfers at the Etihad, has spoken out about the prospect of new signings – and it appears to be bad news for the fans in the Transfer Tavern.
According to Manchester Evening News, when questioned on prospective transfers, Begiristain said: “We already have done [signed players]. We have Jesus coming – he will strengthen our attack, so we are happy.”
Whilst this isn’t a resounding ‘NO’ – this does not sound very positive for the Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern. Begiristain is seemingly happy with the signing of Gabriel Jesus – and that looks likely to be that.
A few of the Man City fans agree that Jesus will make Guardiola’s attack even better – but they are a little more concerned with the Man City defence. The likes of Stones and Otamendi have seriously struggled this season – and the need for additional defensive depth at the Etihad has never been clearer.
Our landlord thinks that Guardiola seriously needs to look at his squad and rebuild, because at present – it just isn’t good enough.
