Man City facing tough test to land £22.5m-rated midfielder, player wants England move – report

It’s been a successful season for the Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern, but they have been left wanting more. Pep Guardiola’s men have impressed in the Premier League, yet with a loss to Liverpool coming over the weekend, it’s clear that they are far from the perfect team.

As a result, the prospect of bringing in more quality and depth might be attractive to Pep Guardiola. However, it appears as though one target will not be an easy acquisition for the Spaniard.

According to the Sun, Man City want to sign Nice midfielder Jean-Michael Seri – with Pep Guardiola eager to add more quality to his midfield. However, whilst the player apparently wants to move to England, Man City are facing competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea – making this move far from an easy one for the Citizens.

Pep Guardiola has been able bring in some of Europe’s best players over the last year or two since moving to the Etihad, and Seri – who is rated at £22.5 million by Transfer Markt – would certainly be worthy of being in such company. A technically gifted midfielder, he’s fantastic with the ball at his feet, and so he’d be a great fit within the very impressive Man City midfield.

At 26-years-old, he’d offer Guardiola a long-term solution in the midfield, which is often what he prioritises when seeking new targets.

However, Chelsea won’t be an easy side to beat for his signature, and so it remains to be seen how this one will turn out.

Landlord’s Verdict

Chelsea may be the reigning Premier League champions, but Man City have their current form to their advantage – with Pep Guardiola’s men arguably one of the most impressive sides in Europe at present.

The prospect of linking up with Guardiola and his in-form team could be irresistible for Seri, and so the Man City boss is likely confident despite Chelsea’s interest.
