The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been emotionally responding to comments from their experienced Ivorian, Yaya Toure. The four-time African player of the year is drawing a close to his eight years in Manchester this summer after stocking up his trophy cabinet and his highlight reel with some superb performances for the Citizens.

Toure spoke after the club’s 0-0 draw with Huddersfield and claimed that it was time to “let the kids continue and take responsibility” after he’s only played a bit-part role in Pep Guardiola’s record-breaking Premier League win. Manchester City have broken the Premier League record for most consecutive wins and are on-track to break three further records of most wins, most points and most goals scored by a team in a single season.
Time at The Etihad is definitely up for Yaya Toure though, he’s only managed 16 appearances for the Citizens this season without scoring a goal. His most successful year at the club was in the 2013/14 season when he bagged an incredible 20 goals and nine assists in his 35 Premier League appearances, despite being deployed in central midfield. That season also saw Toure help City to their second ever Premier League crown and a League Cup win, in which he scored an outrageous goal in the final as they beat Sunderland 3-1.

Amazing player. On his day unstoppable. Like a bull, scored so many important goals for us. Tarnished his legacy initially with the stupid birthday cake fiasco and his stupid agent but i feel has redeemed himself in the eyes & minds of City fans. Thx Yaya for the great memories
