Manchester City

Man City fans on Twitter were delighted with what legend did after West Ham drubbing

It’s fair to say that the Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have a place in their heart’s for Pablo Zabaleta. The Argentine right-back spent nine years at The Etihad before leaving for West Ham back in summer last year, although it’s clear that the 33-year-old still has plenty of ties to the Manchester club as he joined in with the Man City players thanking the travelling fans after City finished their 4-1 smashing over the Hammers at the London Stadium yesterday.

The West Ham fans won’t have been very happy with their defender, although they’ll all understand why their man has thanked the fans given his warm relationship with the Citizens. In truth, the game was easy for Pep Guardiola’s side as they strolled to a 4-1 win in London. The Sky Blues only needed to score twice to bring up a century of goals, and when Pablo Zabaleta turned the ball into his own net after 27 minutes to double the scoreline after Leroy Sane’s opener, the feat had been achieved.

After his retirement, Zabaleta will be remembered as a superb defender, reliable and loyal to Manchester City. In his nine years at The Etihad he saw the club evolve from a mid-table club into serial winners. The Argentine won seven major honours in his time in Manchester, winning three Premier League titles, Three League Cup’s and a single FA Cup. The fans will always associate the right-back with the Manchester blue and it wouldn’t be a surprise if the defender was to return to City after his playing days.
