Man City fans on Twitter were elated when Guardiola threw Phil Foden a start

Last night saw Manchester City complete a brilliant European comeback over Hoffenheim in the Champions League, recovering from going 1-0 down to an early Andrej Kramaric penalty to win 2-1. It was the win they all wanted and needed, and it was made even better by the fact that Phil Foden played the full 90 minutes, just days after putting pen to paper on a new contract.

Phil Foden is one of the brightest young prospects in world football today and there’s no doubt that the City fans want to see as much of the youngster as possible in games like last nights. The only way that Manchester City would have not topped their group after last night would have been if they’d lost against their German opposition whilst Lyon won away at Shakhtar, and that was never going to happen as Guardiola masterminded yet another victory.

Guardiola has nursed some unbelievable talent in his time as a coach. Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Thiago and Joshua Kimmich are just a handful of names that he’s helped on their way to becoming world beaters and now the Citizens will just be hoping he can do the same thing with Foden. At the age of just 18 the youngster has a very long way to go, but there’s no doubting he can go to the very top and that’s exactly why the supporters are desperate to see him make more starts than the four he’s managed this season.
