Manchester City prepare to go head-to-head with Liverpool tomorrow afternoon in a season defining fixture.
Anticipation is building in Manchester as the Citizens prepare for their annual shot at ending an Anfield hoodoo which has left City without a win away at Liverpool since a last-minute winner from Nicholas Anelka secured three points in May 2003.
But discussion regarding the clash of two Premier League titans is not the only point for discussion at City this week, as the Daily Mirror have reported that the club are interested in signing Swansea City centre-back Joe Rodon.
The report claims that Pep Guardiola is interested in Rodon who is out of contract at the end of the season, but Graham Potter has urged the 20-year-old to continue his development at Swansea.
In response to reports, a handful of City fans have cited Wilfred Bony’s failure to make a successful transition from the Liberty to the Etihad as a reason to abandon their pursuit, whilst others have urged the club to focus on signing Ajax prodigy Mathijs de Ligt.
Considering City forked out a club-record fee of £57 million to secure the services of Aymeric Laporte in January, it seems unlikely that a bid will be made for Rodon anytime soon, but he’s certainly a player to keep an eye on with less than a year remaining on his current deal.
And with Vincent Kompany and Nicolas Otamendi 32 and 30-years-old respectively, it’s hardly surprising that Guardiola is looking at the next generation of talent to identify long-term replacements for the aforementioned pairing.
Here’s what the City fans have had to say in response to the transfer report…

Enough centre backs for now. We should prioritise a DM then a striker.

I'm sure United will be interested too
