Manchester City fans have responded after the club’s Twitter account posted about Benjamin Mendy being back to fitness.
The left-back made his return in the league last Saturday as City dispatched Watford 8-0, playing half the match. He also played half an hour against Preston on Tuesday evening as they won 3-0 away at Preston in the EFL Cup.
It’s been a pretty rough ride for Mendy since he made the move to City. As you can tell from his injury history on Transfermarkt, there have been over five separate injuries which have kept him sidelined, which include a cruciate ligament rupture and knee surgery. His injuries have been so severe that the left-back – bought for £52m from Monaco (The Guardian) – has only made 15 league starts despite joining in July 2017, according to Soccerbase.
However, the French international is back again, and he has told the Manchester City website that he is feeling good.
He said: “I feel very good. I think we are working very nice, all the team.
“They help me a lot to get me back with the squad, I am back with them now and I want it to keep going in this way, I feel good, my knee is good.”
There was a mixed response from City fans, with some welcoming him back and saying it is music to their ears, while others actually suggested that Zinchenko is better.
Here are some of the replies below…

Jury is still out for me on Mendy to be brutally honest…
Every time I see him playing, his passing lacks quality, gives away the ball, he does not track back, and his defending is woeful.
Let's see how it goes…
