The Manchester City fans have been in buoyant mood in the Transfer Tavern this week after their side recorded a 4-0 win over Basel at St. Jakob Park to all but confirm their place in the quarter-finals of the competition.
Pep Guardiola’s side continued to stake their credentials as a potential quadruple winner this season by comfortably seeing off the challenge of Basel on Tuesday night. A brace from Ilkay Gundogan either side of goals from Bernardo Silva and Sergio Aguero proved to be the difference between the two sides on an extremely positive night for The Citizens.
Not only was the result highly pleasing for the supporters, but the game also featured the return of three key players, namely David Silva, Leroy Sane and Fabian Delph. The return of the aforementioned trio has arrived at a perfect time for the league-leaders, as they travel to Wembley in just over a weeks time to face Arsenal in the final of the Carabao Cup.
However, Gabriel Jesus remains sidelined with a knee injury he collected during City’s 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace on the final day of 2017. The 20-year-old Brazilian (valued at £63 million by Transfermarkt) is currently training independently of the first-team squad as part of his rehabilitation, and he recently stated that he hopes to beginning training with the squad in the near-future.
Gabriel Jesus: "The knee is very complicated, even more so as I’ve never had an injury there. I put it in my head that I have to recover well and not fast. It is a question of confidence, to take the fear out of the head. I think in a short time I'll train with the group again." pic.twitter.com/brCabZJFTl

Gabriel Jesus: "I’m still a little scared. In a week, I’ll spend more days hitting the ball. I think I’m losing the fear."

In response to Jesus’ comments, the City supporters praised him for his attitude towards recovery, and they called for him to remain patient throughout his recovery period to ensure that he can return to first-team football without any lingering complications.
Here’s what the supporters had to say in response to Jesus on Twitter…
Well and not fast. Good mentality. Coming back too soon can ruin a players career forever.

Speak to Ilkay he was saying something similar after his second serious injury. He was suggesting he didn’t think he’d ever get his levels back but look at him now. More confident & better with every game & knock that he gets. It’ll come don’t force it
