Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has disappointed City fans here in the Tavern with the news that he will leave the club at the end of his current contract, reported by the BBC.
Aguero is a huge favourite amongst City fans, who thought that they would have their Argentinian talisman around for years to come.
But it turns out that Aguero fancies a return to his homeland when his current contract at the Etihad Stadium runs out, as he stated he plans to leave after the World Cup in Russia.
“Here (at City) they know what I want to do, they know I want to return to Argentina. My family know that I am going to go there when my contract with Manchester City finishes in 2018.”
What a revelation Aguero has been in his time in Manchester so far. He commanded a huge transfer fee of around £38 million that City had to pay Atletico Madrid but he has certainly paid that back over the last five years.
He will be eternally loved by City fans, and he certainly is with the ones here, for his last-gasp title winning goal in 2012 and he has gone on to score 126 goals in fewer than 200 appearances for the club.
City fans are expecting big changes over the next couple of seasons with Pep Guardiola expected to turn City into a dominant force throughout Europe.
Whether they like it or not, City fans will have to face up to the fact that they will have to do that without the popular Aguero who will move back to his first club Independiente where he has always stated his desire to finish his career.
