Sergi SampeSergi SampeSergi SampeOur resident Manchester City fans have been in the Transfer Tavern today to discuss their side’s impressive display in the 0-0 draw against Real Madrid.

However, they have been alerted to a report by Fichajes via The Daily Express which suggests that City are interested in Madrid’s league rivals Barcelona’s Sergi Samper.

The midfielder’s current deal runs until 2017 and contains a £9 million buyout clause.

However, reports indicate that the 21-year old is currently stalling contract negotiations, putting the Citizens on alert.

Spanish giants Barcelona are believed to be keen to renew his deal, with our landlord suggesting that he could be the natural replacement for Sergio Busquets in the future.

With former Barca boss Pep Guardiola set to take over at the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season, he could look to lure Samper, with word over by the bar suggesting that the Sky Blues are willing to pay his release clause!

However, City may face competition from rivals Arsenal, who are also interested in bolstering their midfield ahead of next season.
