The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for Pep Guardiola to bring in a bit of defensive depth over the coming days…
Man City have been leaking goals over the last few weeks, and after an electric start to the 2016/17 Premier League season – things are looking rather bleak at the half-way point for the Citizens.
Offensively, they remain dominant – but the Sky Blues leave much to be desired at the back, with the likes of John Stokes and Nicolas Otamendi proving inconsistent and unreliable at the heart of the defence.
Another 2 goals conceded at the weekend saw Pep Guardiola’s side drop 2 points against Tottenham – and it would appear as though Pep Guardiola is fed up with his side’s lack of strength at the back.
According to the Sun, Pep Guardiola is now looking to rectify the situation with a move for Burnley defender Michael Keane, who has been seriously impressive for the Clarets.
Man City have reportedly scouted the defender, and with Pep Guardiola growing increasingly concerned about his side’s poor defensive record – he is looking to act.
It is certainly a deal that makes sense, with young Michael Keane arguably outshining his English compatriot John Stones over the past couple of years. An excellent reader of the game, Keane has proven himself to be an impenetrable force in the heart of the Burnley defence – and whilst his name may be markedly less high-profile than that of Stones – the English defender has certainly had a better 2016/17 season than the Man City man.
The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that their side wins the race to sign the defender…
