Manchester City have been in fine form in the current campaign as they continue their defence of the Premier League title.
The Citizens will be desperate to kick on after the international break as they look to close the gap on the teams above them. And, it looks as if Pep Guardiola has his eye on a potential addition, as according to eldesmarque (via The Mirror), Manchester City are eyeing a move for Real Betis defender Junior Firpo.
Manchester City are keeping tabs on Real Betis star Junior Firpo.
Benjamin Mendy has been excellent at left-back, but Pep Guardiola was clearly frustrated at his options when the France international was injured last season.
However, the Dominican-born defender has a £54 million release clause in his contract, so he won’t come cheap.
The Citizens haven’t been afraid to splash the cash in the past and they will have to do so once again if they want to lure Junior Firpo to the club in January.
Indeed, Manchester City already have Benjamin Mendy at left-back but they do lack cover in that particular position, which could cause problems if the Frenchman suffers an injury.
Nevertheless, if Pep Guardiola sees Firpo as a must have in January then the board will no doubt fund an ambitious move for the defender.
