The Manchester City fans who are gathered at the pool table in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing reports that they are keen to add a German star to their ranks.
Talksport are reporting that the Premier League side have jumped ahead of rivals Manchester United in the race to sign Fiorentina forward Mario Gomez.
City are keen to reinforce their forward line this summer and with the German international potentially available this summer, City have already staged preliminary talks with the players agent.
Gomez has spent the season on loan in Turkey with Besiktas and has been in fine goalscoring form hitting 19 goals in 26 league appearances.
The Turkish side have a buy out clause in the loan deal and are also interested in making him a permanent addition to the squad this summer, but it is thought that should City firm up their interest in the player that he would jump at the chance to make the move to England.
The City fans in The Tavern are delighted with the report and hope that the club can secure a deal to bring Gomez to the club.
