The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for their side to improve at the back this summer…
Whilst most supporters are excited that their side is signing players like Bernardo Silva, Man City’s real need this summer is clearly at the back. They have never been a side that is void of offensive quality, and Pep Guardiola’s downfall last season came from a lack of defensive steel.
Clearly, then, a few defenders are needed this summer, and it appears as though at least one signing is quickly becoming a real possibility. According to the Evening Standard, despite the delay and lack of agreement at present, it is still ‘likely’ that Tottenham defender Kyle Walker will move to the Etihad this summer, with the clubs reportedly around £10 million apart at present.
Walker, of course, lost his place within the Tottenham first team towards the end of last season, with Kieran Trippier often preferred by Mauricio Pochettino as the campaign progressed. In his absence, Trippier really impressed, and so it is going to be very tough for Walker to regain his spot should he stay at White Hart Lane.
Man City, then, could provide an ideal home for him, particularly given that both Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabaleta – two right-backs that were at Man City last season – have both left the club – opening up space for Walker in Manchester.
The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are right behind this deal.
