The Manchester City fans have spent a lot of money at the bar following their silverware success at Wembley at the weekend, but it appears that their club could be set to spend a lot more this summer, with Sport reporting that they have agreed to sign Aymeric Laporte.
The Athletic Bilbao centre back has been linked with the Blues’ rivals Manchester United, as well as Barcelona, amongst other clubs.
However, our punters have been claiming that City have already agreed a deal in principle to sign the 21-year old.
The Frenchman is widely regarded as being one of the best young defenders in world football, highlighted by his £39.4 million buyout clause. But with City’s financial muscle, the actual fee would mean little in negotiations, although there is a suggestion that they may even be able to complete a deal for less than that amount.
Pep Guardiola is expected to revamp the Manchester City squad when he arrives in the summer and is believed to see the defence as an area of priority, whilst our landlord believes that Laporte would be a great addition for the long term.
