The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been very impressed with the fine form of Raheem Sterling this season. He has enjoyed a remarkable turnaround in form after what can only be described as a very average campaign last term, and now – according to the Guardian – a reward could be coming his way.
The Guardian are reporting that Raheem Sterling is set to be offered a lucrative new deal by Man City in February. A base salary of around £220,000-per-week could be on the cards, whilst the Guardian notes that his wage could go beyond £250,000-per-week depending on a few incentives.
It’s no less than he deserves, having enjoyed an excellent campaign so far this season. Providing technique, pace and determination, the Englishman has become every bit as important as the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Fernandinho so far. With 14 goals and 4 assists in the Premier League, it’s fair to say that he’s been a standout figure in the English top flight.
His form has turned him into one of Man City’s most prized assets, with Pep Guardiola’s team really impressing. Sterling has been one of the core reasons behind its success. The Spanish boss won’t want to risk the prospect of losing him, and so a new deal makes a lot of sense.
The Man City squad that Guardiola has built is sensational, and now it’s a priority that he ensures the team sticks together.
Though not considered as such last term, Sterling is now invaluable to this team, and so securing his long-term future is an absolute priority.
He’s been good enough to warrant pay parity with some of Man City’s biggest stars, and so this is deserved.
