Man City midfielder deal ‘impossible’ amid Man Utd and Arsenal interest

The Manchester City fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are glad that this midfielder won’t be able to hurt their title challenge next season…

Yaya Toure’s future at Manchester City was thrust into doubt following the arrival of Pep Guardiola at the Etihad this summer, with the ex-Barcelona manager expected by many here in the Tavern to drop the Ivorian midfielder.

Pep Guardiola was,¬†of course, the manager that oversaw Yaya Toure’s sale from the Catalan giants, en route to the Ivorians arrival in Manchester – much to the surprise of the punters here in the Tavern.

With Guardiola often preferring a pass-and-move style of play, Toure’s box-to-box traits are rarely compatible – at least that’s the opinion of one particularly vocal Citizen here in the Football Transfer Tavern.

The Ivorian’s agent confirmed in April of this year that Toure would likely leave Man City this summer, and whilst that didn’t happen – it seemed to confirm that his Manchester departure was certainly on the way.

Now, in a report published by Sky Sports, his agent has been talking up a potential move again – and of particular interest to our landlord is his suggestion that both Manchester United and Arsenal are interested in a move for the midfielder.

However, in disappointing news to the United and Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern, he has brandished the move ‘impossible’ – with his focus instead on alternative offers, of which Toure reportedly has many.

Despite seemingly falling out with the current Manchester City brass, it appears that Toure still respects his club enough that he would not run out for a rival club.

As predicted by our bar staff, his agent has noted that clubs both inside and outside of Europe will have to compete for his signature, with one particularly vocal fan behind the bar suggesting that one final payday in China could be on the cards.

Whilst a move outside of Europe might benefit Toure on a personal note, there is no doubting that he has all the qualities to succeed should he remain in the big leagues.

As the table above, provided by Whoscored.com, suggests – Yaya Toure has consistently been at the top of his game throughout his time in Manchester.

Perhaps more important than that is his consistency, having played around 30 games every single season since joining the club.

The 2013/14 campaign was certainly a standout, averaging an impressive 7.55 rating and bagging an outstanding 20 league goals in 35 appearances.

Our landlord thinks that if a Premier League club can land Toure before next season; he could prove to be the difference maker.

Man City fans – do you want to see Toure leave? Arsenal and Man Utd fans – would you like to see him at your club?
