Manchester City supporters have been slightly quieter in the Transfer Tavern in the last few days after seeing their side only muster a 1-1 draw at Burnley on Saturday, thus seeing their lead at the summit of the Premier League cut to 13 points.
Pep Guardiola’s men went into their clash at Turf Moor with a 15-point lead over neighbours Manchester United at the top, and had the chance to make that 18 in the early kick-off on Saturday. And they were on course to do so as Danilo gave them a first half lead with an excellent long-range strike, only for Sean Dyche’s side to respond eight minutes from time through Johann Berg Gudmundsson to clinch a point from the encounter.
Thus, there has been a lot less noise coming from our resident Citizens fans in the Tavern in recent times, although they are likely to be intrigued and perhaps encouraged by a recent report from Don Balon, which suggests that Cristiano Ronaldo reckons that Isco could make the move to the Etihad Stadium in the summer.
25-year-old Isco made the move to the Bernabeu back in 2013 after impressing at fellow La Liga outfit Malaga, and has since gone on to prove his worth for the European champions with 40 goals and 51 assists in 222 appearances for the club.
Yet the Spain international hasn’t always been a regular starter under Zinedine Zidane and has made just 14 starts in La Liga so far this term, potentially opening the door for a move away for more first team football in the summer.
And recent reports suggest that teammate Ronaldo reckons that Isco could make the move to City in the summer, with Citizens chief Guardiola having reportedly contacted the 25-year-old about a possible move to the Premier League champions-elect.
But whether the Spanish midfield maestro does indeed make the move to the North West this summer remains to be seen.
Landlord’s verdict: Real Madrid’s slump in form this season has been alarming, what with Zinedine Zidane’s men facing the very real prospect of missing out on Champions League football next season.
And things haven’t been particularly great for midfielder Isco, who has managed just 14 La Liga starts for the club so far this season, and was again left on the bench in their 2-2 draw with Levante on Saturday, albeit he did come on and net to help Zidane’s men earn a point.
And reports suggest that the 25-year-old could well be off in the summer, with teammate Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly reckoning that the Spain international could make the move to Premier League champions-elect Manchester City.
And with Citizens boss Pep Guardiola having reportedly contacted the midfielder about a possible move, a summer move could well be in the offing for the midfield maestro.
