Manchester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are not shocked to hear via talkSPORT that FC Porto look to take advantage of their big pockets as they have set a £40 million price tag for Yacine Brahimi.
This valuation was obviously made with City’s wealth in mind but also with a glimmer of hope that the price tag will put off Citizens boss Manuel Pellegrini.
Even if City choose to stump up the cash for the Algerian international, they may not be able to see the deal through as it would be difficult for them to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations, especially after recently signing Wilfried Bony from Swansea City for £28 million.
City have of course been under the microscope following their controversial swoop to land Frank Lampard following his release from Chelsea at the end of last season.
In Brahimi, the Premier League champions don’t have the luxury to wait a season or two to land the 25-year-old because Tottenham and Everton have been interested in the Algerian in the past before he moved to Estadio do Dragao from Granada last summer.
