Manchester City eased past Arsenal this weekend to cement their place at the top of the table and put further pressure on Man United and the chasing pack in the Premier League.
Pep Guardiola appears to have got the balance right in his squad finally, and they look unstoppable at times this term.
The likes of Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero have been excellent thus far, and the City players will be confident of winning some silverware this season for sure.
Our landlord here in the Tavern though thinks City need to go out and make a big statement signing in January, and one man he thinks they can snatch from under the nose of Barcelona is Liverpool and Brazil star Phillippe Coutinho.
The little playmaker is now back in the Reds’ line up and looks every bit the quality player we all saw him as last term. His ability as a number ten or even slightly deeper as a number eight make him one of the most feared attacking midfielders in the league, and despit City’s wealth of attacking options, he would only enhance them further and improve the squad.
While he might have his heart set on a move to the Nou Camp, a move to City and the chance of mounting serious challenges for titles and trophies could well appeal to Coutinho. Liverpool will be determined to keep him, but Chelsea have the funds and backing, and he would be a superb marquee signing for the club.
City fans, what do you think? Would this be a good signing? Let us know in the comments!
